Seiho Mountain Villa

Seiho Sanso is a tranquil cultural hotel woven with history and charm. Enjoy a relaxing time in this timeless architectural beauty and high-quality space.

HISTORY

The history of Seiho Sanso dates back to around 1913. Originally built in Azabu, Tokyo, as a villa for Kimura Seishiro, the former 10th Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan, it was acquired by the Ehara family in 1936 and relocated to Suginami. It was then relocated again in 1985 to its current location on Mount Akagi in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. Honkan features a harmonious blend of Japanese and Western styles, and features the elegant sukiya-zukuri architectural style. Shichigura and Okugura storehouse, originally built around 1877, were relocated from Maebashi City and renovated into guest rooms. Shichigura features a hipped roof, Okugura storehouse features a gabled roof, each with its own unique charm. The name Seiho Sanso combines the "Sei" (meaning "Sei") of Kimura Seishiro and the "Yo" (meaning "Yo") of Ehara Yoshihei, making it a place steeped in history and friendship. Each brick used in the garden conveys a sense of history.
