In winter, Mount Akagi's Lake Onuma is completely covered in ice, creating a fantastical landscape that seems like another world.
In this natural setting, you can experience "ice fishing for smelt."
You drill a hole in the ice of the lake, drop a fishing line into it, and rhythmically lure the smelt. Even beginners can enjoy it once they get the hang of it.

Equipment is available for purchase and rental at the shop on the shore of Lake Onuma, so you can come empty-handed.
If you are a first timer, the staff at the shop will give you advice on how to fish, so you can rest assured. What's more, the smelt you catch will be cooked for you at the shop on the lake, so you can enjoy a delicious meal right there.

Just by riding on the ice of the lake, you can experience the great outdoors in a way that you would not normally experience.
